The Artist Behind The Art
Based in Austin, TX, Pacific Northwest grown, Sierra is an artist and writer whose work explores vulnerability, resilience, and the complexity of being human.
Writing since childhood, she has long been drawn to the unseen emotional lives people carry beneath the surface. That curiosity continues to shape her work today.
Through themes of grief, love, addiction, and reinvention Sierra creates work that examines not only what breaks us wide open, but what allows us to return to ourselves. Her art moves toward honesty rather than perfection, holding space for tenderness, strength, and transformation at once.
Influenced by jiu-jitsu, strength training, and the natural landscapes she grew up around, Sierra approaches art through both instinct and discipline. She sees the human body as a living record: capable of adaptation, softness, and repair.
Rather than offering clean resolutions, her work invites viewers into deeper recognition of themselves and each other. It’s an exploration of courage, connection, and the quiet act of remaining open despite what life asks us to carry.
A Note From The Artist:
I’m so happy you’re here. Thank you for taking time to browse my art and learn more about me. My relationship with art comes from a place of healing, as it does for many. In my early twenties and teenage years, I spent a lot of energy being very “Type A”. I thought if I could exist in black and white, the world would make more sense.
Like most beliefs we cling to in our young adult years, my hopes of life being the same as an algebra equation were shattered fairly quickly. I spent three years as an accountant, applying the same “Yes, No” principals to my work.
Somewhere along the way I got tired of the definitive. When I found myself feverishly putting paint to canvas, I discovered a new treasure. The art of letting go, being messy, and never being right.
So, that’s a peak into the genesis of my work. My world has shifted from stark black and white contrasts, to varying shades of grey. Thank God for evolution and frontal lobe development.
Cheers,
Sierra Koch
